Lays .. you can't eat just one.
Little Miss Sunshine woke up in a great mood again this morning.
We ran to the potty, washed up, combed our hair, brushed our teeth and headed for the kitchen.
For breakfast she had a fruit yogurt, cereal fruit bar and a few cookies. Yesterday we tried mashed banana which I thought every kid liked? She didn't?
So this morning in an effort to a find healthy alternative to cookies...lol. I thought I'd try a banana again. But it occurred to me she might eat it whole or sliced.. so I asked her. "Tamara would you like a banana? Ban-an-a?"
And I hear her say "Ban-an-a". Wow... I almost fell over.
Who would have thought her first real word would be banana? lol
And no she didn't eat it. She fed it to me. What a character.
~
After breakfast I gave Tamara a bubble bath. Which again she loves. Amazing little girl she doesn't fuss when it's time to get out. Guess it's the no nonsense training she's had in the orphanage and foster home setting?
Soon Anna arrived with our lunch.
She brought a delicious bean bread that her Mom made for us. It's a re fried bean type filling inside a Filo type dough. A salad and was making home made chicken soup. We ended up having the yummy soup for dinner as we had gotten a call that we needed to have Tamara's passport photos taken and were being picked up in 20 minutes.
After the photo shoot we decided to go to the Tbilisi Zoo. For those who live in NJ it's about the size of Space Farms. Daddy bought Tamara a Barbie Helium Balloon 8 Lari about $6 ? This is the type of balloon you would find at a dollar store in the USA. Little extras are very expensive here. She loved being strolled around and seemed more interested in the other children then the Zoo animals. We tried putting her on a ride but she wouldn't have it. :o( After coming home.. late for her nap again... bad mommy. I cleaned her up.. gave her a snack and put her down for a power nap.
During the nap I decided to do some laundry... by hand.. yeah... like my manicurist is going to love me when I get home. lol
Why by hand? Well Bruce put a load of towels in this morning and at 4pm they we still spinning? Came out dripping wet but clean. I figured by hand was quicker. Luckily I brought some traveling laundry detergent & Woolite. So it really wasn't a big deal. "BRUCE where's the dryer?" ... "We don't have one"
Yup there's a drying rack on the balcony. Guess I didn't need to pack the fabric softener dryer sheets? :o) lol.
Below is our Baby Girl waiting for the washer to do something... anything... it just sat there for over an hour. Luckily she didn't but she did check it every 10 minutes or so. She kept bringing Bruce to it as if to say "fix it Daddy".
Tamara has gotten into the habit of bringing reading material in with her when she knows she'll be a while. This picture was not staged... she really does this.
Too Funny!
Tamara found the bag of lollipops for the orphanage.
It was suggested that I bring 300 so I did. Looks like we're buying disposable diapers for the baby house with the fund raising money. It's going to be a huge number of boxes... I think we're going to need a truck? lol...
Lays.. You can't eat just one.
After dinner Bruce went down stairs to pick up a few things. The small grocery type store has a little bit of everything and is the size of... hum... no it's smaller then a 7-11 in the US. But very convenient. Wish we had one on our block. Anyway... I told him to pick up a snacky something.. he came back with a bag of Lays potato chips. Left them on the table where Tamara soon found them. She brought the bag to me and gave me that "Please Mommy" look. Yeah you know the look... it's the one little girls use in toy stores and Malls back home... yeah.. she's got it perfected already...lol. Anyway I gave her one to try. She loved it.. when she wanted more I said no. Don't want her getting hooked on junk food. Then Daddy came in the kitchen. Again with the look "Please Daddy" Bruce looks at me and says one more? lol. Then he says to her but you have to sit in Daddy's lap and he motions for her to sit in his lap. She hadn't done that yet. But she agreed. And then I heard Daddy say. "AS long as you sit in Daddy's lap you can have as many as you want" lol... oh boy... she's got him so wrapped around her pinkie. lol
Later as we relaxed in the living room. Tamara and I were on the couch and Bruce was sitting in a chair reading the "SURVIVAL GEORGIAN" book cousin Liya had recommended. (Thank You Liya). Tamara had the TV control we were watching BBC news and I wondered if they had something child like on instead but I couldn't get Tamara to give me the control. Then Bruce said " Lee say "gah-ee ka-veet" so I did and she gave it to me. "What did I say" I asked. Please share he said. Wow I guess I pronounced it correctly. lol. Then he says.. say .. mind you he's spelling it to me. "kahr-ghee go-go khar" so I do. Tamara's face lights up like a Christmas tree. What did I say? Good girl he tells me. ;o) OK.. lets try this one... he says laughing. "mah-koh-tseh" so I do and Tamara puckers up and gives me 3 kisses. What was that I asked. Bruce is laughing.. and says Kiss me. He then says.. We must have the only kid that comes with an owners manual...lol. Pretty funny stuff no? lol She is so so sweet and smart. She's amazing.

Ok - so she and Joey have a lot in common. He hates bananas too - and yet it was one of his first words.
And the water thing, teeth brushing, etc. - should we start talking dowry now? LOL!
Glad your all having such a great experience.
How are things on the fingerprint issue? Any word on if it's been cleared up?

PS - Happy Memorial Day! - the weather here is lovely.
Lee & Bruce,
Congratulations Mommy, Daddy and Tamara and Best Wishes for a safe journey home. I only found out just now that you were actually under way, but I read everything and am caught up in your adventure. Things seem to be going very smoothly, both with the Georgian officials and with the new family member. Enjoy the feeling and get the most out of the visit for yourselves. Not everyone gets to go so far off the normal tourist path. We have potentially good news also. Kolton should finally be coming home the day after Memorial Day. He is already 12 weeks old and weighs a more respectable 8lb 9oz. I imagine he’ll have some adjustments to make also, after spending more than half his life in the hospital. My only other advice to the two grownups: sleep when you can – you’ll need it,
Love to all, Dirk
Met Sharon at church who reminded me to read your blog. Have been sitting here for the past hour laughing and crying. You are truly blessed with this beautiful little girl!
Diane and Kevin
Bruce, you looked thrilled!!!! Welcome to parenthood!!!!!
I hope we can still hang out on the deck and down some beers!
Congratulations and I hope all goes well. Will see you upon your return.
Love to all

BLT,
Cute, just got it! I'm so glad all is going so well. She is adorable and beautiful. You are both doing an execellent job!
FYI, It looks exactly like where we stayed. Is it? Nice place, right.
Washer did that for me as well. You just have to figure out the settings...Anna can help with that, too. Anna is the same Anna as well.
Still checking if you got my emails (2 with photos) and last blog.
Love, LF-CD
Yeah Bruce. Your eyes are open. LOL
Love all the pics she looks so happy.
Hello Lee!
I'm not sure that I am getting through. I don't see any of my blogs posted and I haven't gotten any email response.
Are you getting emails and emailing anyone back?
I'm convinced by the photos that you are in the same place we stayed and Anna is the same Anna we had. It's eery to see photos of the same apartment!
You haven't posted in a day or so....I hope all is well. I know we lost power a few times and internet would be out as well. Sometimes the internet just goes out. And then you really feel isolated, untill it's back and all is well again.
You all do look like a happy family and bonding is clearly going very well.
Wishing more of the best,
Filomena
